27th September 11 am "A trip from City Rd Lock, Islington to Little Venice on the Jenny Wren": Christopher Winn

 

  • Exclusive Historical Trip on an authentic  Canal  boat along the Regents Canal

  • We embark at Islington (City Rd lock) – nearest tube is ANGEL

  • We disembark at Little Venice and the journey is estimated to take about 3 hours – nearest tube is ANGEL

  • Christopher Winn (author of ‘I never knew that about the Thames’) will regale us with snippets of history and anecdotes along the way

     

    Christopher Winn has been a freelance writer and collector of trivia for over 20 years.  He has written for the Guardian and the Independent and sets quiz questions for newspapers such as the Daily Mail and the Daily Telegraph. He has also worked in television with David Frost, Joanna Lumley, Ronnie Corbett and Jonathan Ross and, for eight years, as assistant to Terry Wogan on his TV chat show. He was Associate Producer for the TV series I Never Knew That About Britain, adapted from the books by ITV and airing in 2014.

     

    Christopher frequently gives talks on the Thames, including for the Thames Festival, Songs of Praise with Aled Jones in 2011 and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Thames Pageant in 2012.

 

Embarkation:  

11am: City Rd Lock, Islington (accessed via the ramp onto the towpath from Danbury Street. We'll disembark at Little Venice about 3 hours later (nearest tube is WARWICK AVENUE). The cost does NOT include lunch or drinks which are not provided on this boat but you are encouraged to bring your own picnic.
