One of our Members, Nick Hawker, has recently set up Maritime Themes, a programme of tours, trips and talks exploring and celebrating our maritime heritage. From naval warfare and safety at sea to the fishing industry and the environment. Each session will be led by an acclaimed expert in iconic historic venues around the Pool of London. Things kick off on Wednesday 14th October with Dr John McAleer introducing '"The East India Company" – The company that changed the world’. The RMG have kindly offered a venue for John to introduce this topic before we visit the East India room at the NMM.
Nick is a keen sailor and an enthusiastic historian with a thirst for knowledge about all things nautical and maritime. This venture is his attempt to bring that enthusiasm to a wider audience.
At the moment the programme is focused on The Thames but Nick hopes to widen its appeal by incorporating other maritime locations and themes
